Young talents from Essen win gold in welding in Sonneberg!

Of gold medals and hot metal

Last weekend a masterpiece of welding was celebrated. Philip Lukow and Lucas Hammerschmidt from Essen won two gold medals in welding and thus secured a place at the top of the best welders in Germany. This award was presented in Malmerz, a district of Sonneberg, at GRW Anlagenbau. The discipline of welding not only requires the highest precision, but also the mastery of extreme temperatures.

What makes welding training so exciting? The prospect of a wide range of professional opportunities is particularly attractive. Welders are responsible for the safety and quality of welded structures. The pay is above average and the areas of application range from production facilities to on-site assembly work. Whether in heating and ventilation construction, boiler construction or vehicle construction - everyone will find their niche here!

Diverse further training opportunities

The wooden tap and the smell of water levels are not just for the Rostock district! Welding technology also has a lot to offer. There are numerous further training opportunities for anyone who would like to deepen their skills. The welding foreman seminar (TÜV) includes 240 teaching units and, after successful testing, entitles you to direct use in various welding processes.

The training covers four important welding methods: GAS (oxygen/acetylene), MMA (electrode), MSG (metal inert gas welding) and TIG (tungsten inert gas welding). Anyone who already has experience in the metal sector can register for this course. What is important is at least three years of practice in the chosen welding process as well as some technical basics that you should master. After passing the qualification, you receive a PersCert TÜV certificate, which is internationally recognized and documents your skills.

The working world of welders

What do aspiring welders imagine their job to be like? During the training, WIFI not only conveys basic but also advanced knowledge of various welding processes. It is precisely the flexibility and the opportunity to work with different materials such as steel, aluminum and plastic that make the job attractive.

The areas of application are wide-ranging: from the production of welded structures to crane and steel construction to the assembly of solar systems. This gives welders numerous opportunities to demonstrate their skills. The teams are deployed not only in craft businesses, but also in large industrial companies, which opens up additional perspectives.

In the end, it's not just the craft but also the art of welding that is in demand: anyone who can use the flame creatively has a good chance on the job market. The mastery of welding demonstrated by Lukow and Hammerschmidt impressively shows that this is a profession with a future.
