Kitchen disaster in Chemnitz: Two men start a fire!

A cozy evening of cooking took a dramatic turn on Sunday, November 9th. At 7:15 p.m., the fire department in Chemnitz was alerted after thick clouds of smoke billowed from a window of an apartment building on Tchaikovsky Street. Two 24-year-old men apparently didn't have the right skills when preparing food and started a kitchen fire. According to radiochemnitz.de, the flames quickly spread to the furniture in the apartment. When the fire brigade arrived, the situation was already tense and the fire had spread to parts of the kitchen.

The emergency services reacted quickly, extinguished the fire quickly and checked the surrounding apartments with a turntable ladder to ensure that they were not also affected by the smoke. Fortunately, the two men, who sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident, were treated at the scene. However, hospitalization was not necessary, which is certainly a relief for everyone involved.

Investigations and damages

Although the fire was quickly extinguished, property damage of around 10,000 euros remained, as reported by tag24.de. The cause of the fire was attributed to burnt food, which made the scene of the accident a scene. The fire brigade arrived promptly on site, but had to endure some traffic delays on Tchaikovsky Street while they laid their hoses and began extinguishing the fire.

The police have launched an investigation into suspicion of negligent arson. An incident like this reminds us that there's often more at stake in the kitchen than meets the eye. Once the flames break out, it can quickly become dangerous, even if the intention was obviously harmless.

So the next time you invite someone to a cooking evening, remember: cooking can be fun, but safety comes first! Especially when preparing food, you should always keep an eye on it and, if in doubt, turn off the stove and wait for dessert.
