New shine for the Holland organ: concert with cocktails in Gerthausen!

Gerthausen, Deutschland - In the small, charming church of Gerthausen you can now hear magnificent sounds again. The aging Holland organ, which was built by Friedrich Wilhelm Holland in 1848, has been extensively restored and now shines in new splendor. This renovation was urgently needed because the organ had to suffer from water damage, wooden lyrics and other defects for years. Thanks to the committed work of the organ construction company Hoffmann & Schindler from Ostheim, it can now be used in full again.

The solemn inauguration of the organ took place on October 20, 2024 as part of a festive service, to which numerous guests from the Rhön and the surrounding area were invited. Among those present were also organ experts and local church representatives who praised the progress of the renovation work and demonstrated the special sound of the restored organ. As part of the celebrations, a concert was also held with the city and district cantor Sebastian Fuhrmann, which captivated the visitors. This is the prelude to other musical highlights planned in the church.

concert with cocktails and grill dishes

Already on Friday, June 27, 2025, the next musical event will be pending: from 6 p.m. an "organ cocktail" will be held, in which visitors will be spoiled with cocktails, cold drinks and delicious grill dishes. The concert of the city and district cantor begins at 7 p.m., whose entry is free of charge, but the visitors are kindly asked for donations for further renovation work at the church.

The extensive restoration was a multi -year project that now had a nice conclusion with the re -inauguration. The organ, which was restored in three construction phases over two years, comprises 14 registers and offers a variety of sound options. Technical improvements were also taken into account: there is a new pedal slave and a conversion of the registers to restore the original sound. A special highlight is the remarkable cornett in the main work, which now comes into its own again.

insights into the restoration

The careful cleaning of generals and new design of the organ have taken up a lot of time and commitment. Dust, technical defects and other problems make this effort necessary to maintain the organ sustainably. The re -relocation by 1.20 meters and other adjustments ensure that the organ is not only sound, but also optically an absolute eye -catcher. Organist Anita Bahn and other experts were significantly involved in the successful implementation of the restoration measures.

The municipality of Gerthausen is proud of the newly renovated organ and invites all music lovers and interested parties to convince themselves of the new abundance of sound and the beauty of the instrument. Whether at the upcoming concert or future events - a visit to the church is worth it!
