After a lively period of bird shooting in Sonneberg, which has now successfully come to an end, preparations for the traditional Oberlinder Kirchweih are just around the corner. This big celebration, which will take place from July 18th to 21st, 2025, is attracting many hearts in the region and promises to once again be a real festival for young and old. In the days surrounding the Church of St. Aegidien there is a lot of construction going on while the anticipation for the event grows increasingly. The festival will be ceremoniously opened here on Friday, July 18th at 4:00 p.m. with a beer tapping, followed by a dance event with the band M&M in the evening. The year-round preparation pays off, because over 20 showmen, traders and supply stands are expected at the Kerwa, as the city of Sonneberg emphasizes.

On Sunday, July 20th, there will also be a market for ornamental fish, terrarium animals, aquatic plants and more from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., organized by the Aquarium-Terrarium Association 1981 Sonneberg in the former clubhouse “Wäldla”.
