Renovation of the swimming pool in Neuhaus: New plans despite funding rejection!

Significant changes are coming to the “Am Rennsteig” swimming pool in Neuhaus am Rennweg. The city is planning a comprehensive renovation of the popular sports facility insuedthueringen.de reported. However, the project had to be rejected at the second attempt because it was not included in the funding program of the state of Thuringia. Silke Kümmerling from the Office of Construction Management informed the city council about the harsh realities of funding sports facilities.

As is known, there will probably be a longer closure of the swimming pool next year. It is important to point out the new concept that is being presented by the head of the office and is intended to form the basis for the restructuring measures. Despite these hurdles, the city remains confident that the swimming pool will shine in new splendor.

A variety of amenities expected

The swimming pool currently offers disabled-friendly facilities and a swimming pool measuring 25 x 12.5 m. The offering also includes a weights and gymnastics room, two saunas and a solarium. Those interested can even purchase a combination ticket for the sauna area. A look at the funding

In order to advance the planned renovation, a new application for funding will be submitted to the Thuringian sports funding placed. This program not only supports new construction, but also the modernization and renovation of public sports facilities. The funding is provided from budgetary resources, with local authorities and recognized sports organizations being eligible as recipients of funding.

The guidelines for sports facility construction funding provide for various maximum amounts. This means that up to 60% of eligible expenses for construction work can be funded. However, the necessary applications must be submitted in good time by July 1st of the current year. It remains to be hoped that the city of Neuhaus am Rennweg will receive the support to carry out the renovation of the swimming pool and thus make an important contribution to the sporting infrastructure.

In view of the developments, it remains to be seen how the plans can be implemented and when the swimming pool can be opened to the public again after the renovation. However, one thing is certain: the anticipation of the future possibilities in the “Am Rennsteig” swimming pool is already noticeable.
