Strength training high tension: Zillbacher trio wins at the state championship!
At the Thuringian State Powerlifting Championships, which took place in Ilmenau, the athletes from KSV Zillbach caused a sensation. The delegation, consisting of Brian and Sindy Gennis as well as Sidney Förtsch and Diego Witt, came in full strength and was able to win several awards. How in southern Thuringia reported, the three starters achieved two national championship titles and one runner-up title - a real masterpiece that their coach Mathias Wagner could only watch from a distance, but was still a reason to celebrate.
This event is only part of the hustle and bustle that characterizes the strength training scene in Thuringia. A further look at the upcoming competitions shows that the athletes will continue to be challenged in the coming period. The Thuringian state three-way championship will take place in Erfurt on September 14, 2024. Almost 50 athletes from 15 clubs will be competing here, including representatives from the Weißensee strength training club Weight training Weißensee described in detail. Participants like Erwin Hoppe and Paul Krieg from Youth B will try to set new records and measure their strengths.
Strong performances in Ilmenau
The performances in Ilmenau were outstanding. Philipp Baier, who competes in the weight class up to 120 kg, not only demonstrated his strength with a total of 730 kg, but also broke the old Thuringia record. His best individual performances included 255 kg in the squat, 200 kg in the bench press and 275 kg in the deadlift - a true masterpiece that secured him the overall victory among the active athletes. This puts him in the focus of upcoming competitions, including the German Championships for young people and juniors, which will take place in Cologne in October.
But other athletes also shone in Ilmenau. Jonas Ahrens took first place in the over 120 kg weight class with 262.5 kg in the squat and 275 kg in the deadlift, while Adamantia Sofi took second place in the up to 63 kg category with 327.5 kg. Noah Sprengel, who competed for the USV, was also able to shine as the overall winner among the young people with a total weight of 607.5 kg. He qualified for the German Championships. This high level gives hope for exciting competitions in October, when the nation's best young talents meet.

The excitement in the strength training scene is palpable, now that Luca Richter, who is considered the defending champion and favorite, will also be able to demonstrate his skills in Cologne. Together with his colleagues, he will do everything he can to achieve the best performances at the upcoming championships.
