Sven Rabe takes over the reins at the Suhl Rotarians!

The Suhl Tivoli was the scene of a celebratory event on July 2, 2025: Sven Rabe, an experienced company reorganizer from Suhl-Linsenhof, was appointed the new president of the Suhl Rotary Club. He is following in the footsteps of Jörg Knüpper, a committed hospital surgeon who was able to direct the club's fortunes last year. The handover of the baton took place in a festive setting and also marks the 33rd year of the Rotary Club in Suhl's existence.

The change at the top of the club traditionally takes place annually at the end of June and the beginning of July. The Rotary Club Suhl sees itself as a network of people in responsible positions who work together to promote social and humanitarian projects. A local commitment that is deeply rooted in the history of this global organization.

A look back at the history of Rotary

Rotary was founded on February 23, 1905 by Paul P. Harris in Chicago and is the first service club in the world. His goal: to bring people from a wide variety of professions and backgrounds together to exchange ideas and bring about change together. This also happens in Suhl, but the international structure has taken a particularly remarkable course. In the past, Rotarians have actively participated in the establishment of the United Nations and contributed to reconciliation after the Second World War in various countries. It is noteworthy that during the period of conflict Rotary was banned in Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain and Japan, but members continued to meet in secret.

The global vaccination campaigns against polio, which began in 1979 and have since saved the lives of millions of children in various countries, were also major milestones. These impressive achievements shaped Rotary's humanitarian work internationally and continue to resonate today.

A new chapter under Sven Rabe

With Sven Rabe as the new president, the members are optimistic and ready to set new trends. Rabe will certainly bring his experience in corporate restructuring to develop innovative projects and strategies that will further strengthen the club's local commitment. The challenges that the coming months and years will bring are diverse, but with a strong team at your side, there is great confidence that meaningful changes can be initiated.
