VfB Suhl storms into the quarter-finals – 3-0 win in front of cheering fans!

On November 8th, 2025, VfB Suhl put on a convincing performance in the DVV Cup. With a clear 3-0 win against the Binder Blaubären TSV Flacht, the volleyball players moved into the quarter-finals without any problems. The game in the local “Wolfsgrube” attracted 984 enthusiastic spectators who experienced an exciting game.

Suhl started vehemently from the start, quickly led 11:3 and secured the first set 25:17. In the second set the team started strong again with a lead of 7:1. Although Flacht got back to 9:7, Suhl was unstoppable and also won this set 25:19. The third round was a little tighter, but in the end VfB triumphed 25:20. Hannah Hartmann, positioned as a diagonal attacker, was the most accurate player on her team and scored 13 points.

Players in the spotlight

What is particularly noteworthy is that outside attacker Svea Naujack was rested, while Emma Sambale was the only Libera to play and support the team. After the game, Sambale emphasized that the team needs to work on its consistency in order to continue to be successful in the coming rounds. The most valuable players of the game were Roxana Vogel from Flacht and Roosa Laakkonen from Suhl - a sign of the strong performance on both sides.

Team manager Jens Haferkorn expressed his wish for a home game in the quarter-finals, ideally against Skurios Volleys Borken or their desired opponent Planegg-Krailling. In the excitement, hopes of a favorable draw for the next game arose.

Games and awards

VfB Suhl shows that it is in form and is well on the way to celebrating further successes in the cup. The strong team performance and the clear result against Flacht give us confidence. The club has not only positioned itself well on the pitch, but is also very popular with the audience.

The coming weeks could be crucial for the VfB Suhl volleyball team. Based on the performances in the games so far, we can only hope that they can continue the positive development.
