BGE Elektrotechnik supports MINT education in Eisenach with a donation of 250 euros
In a welcome step for the educational landscape in Eisenach, BGE Elektrotechnik GmbH from Gerstungen made a donation of 250 euros to the Eisenach City Library Support Association. This support is part of a larger commitment to promote MINT projects (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology) in the region and, above all, to introduce children to technical topics at an early stage. At the handover, Angela Krah, sales manager at BGE, made it clear how important technical education is for the future of our children. The volunteers Karsten Senf and Frank Zwickert accepted the spiral cables provided by the BGE and also supervise the MINT Tuesdays in the library, which take place every Tuesday from 3 p.m. As [thueringer- Allgemeine.de](https://www.thueringer- Allgemeine.de/lokales/wartburgkreis/article410239665/neue-nachrichten-aus-eisenach-und-dem-wartburgkreis.html) reports, this commitment contributes significantly to strengthening educational offerings in the city.
In recent years, the Eisenach City Library has developed a remarkable MINT offering. Special events have been offered since 2022 and the Technothek was opened in 2023, which is intended to give children and young people practical insights into technical issues. Here, teachers and educators can borrow new learning materials, including experiment kits, to impart knowledge in the environmental and sustainability areas. Particularly noteworthy is the annual LEGO project during the autumn holidays, which is strengthened by Lindig GmbH and other supporters, as can be seen from the press release on the city of Eisenach's website (eisenach.de).
Commitment to STEM education
STEM education is not only important in Eisenach, but is also very important at the national level. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research has developed a MINT action plan that promotes MINT education from daycare to further education. Education in the areas of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology is crucial to mastering global challenges such as the energy transition and digital transformation. For this purpose, 73 regional MINT clusters have already been created, which create low-threshold, everyday educational offerings (bildung-forschung.digital).
The support from business, such as that provided by BGE Elektrotechnik GmbH, is of great importance for the educational offensive in the region. Library director Dr. Annette Brunner emphasizes how important these partnerships are in order to further promote education in Eisenach. The joint efforts aim to arouse interest in MINT subjects and to ensure the educational success and social participation of young people.
With its donation, BGE Elektrotechnik GmbH shows that economic commitment and educational support go hand in hand and thus contributes to a more sustainable future.
