Discover the angels: Photo competition in churches starts on June 21!
Wartburgkreis, Deutschland - We can look forward to an exciting action in the Cologne parish! On June 21, 2025, the EKM summer campaign 2025 started with the title "The Engel Spur". This initiative invites everyone interested to discover and photograph angels in churches. The special thing about it: the collected pictures are then published on the EKM website and social media such as Facebook and Instagram. Not only the works of art, be it in the form of sculptures, paintings or reliefs, is thrown a new light, but also the participants are given the opportunity to demonstrate their photographic skills. According to the EKM, the requirements for the submissions are clear: the photos should be submitted in portrait or landscape format and with a minimum image quality of 300dpi. Close shots that show details are particularly welcome.
Participants must observe some information when submitting, including their names, the origin of the recordings and possibly background information about the church. The submissions will be accepted by the end of the campaign in September and can be sent to the e-mail address Sommeraktion@ekmd.de. After completing the campaign, there will be a selection of the best images in an internal publication that is expected to appear in October. In addition, a postcard with an angel photo gallery will be available in the EKM shop that combines art and faith in an appealing way.
photo competition for church pictures
But that's not the only opportunity to show his photographic talent. The Evangelical Foundation for the Preservation of Church Monuments (Kiba Foundation) and the Bank for Church and Diakonie call for a photo competition that runs until May 15, 2025. Impressions of Protestant churches in Germany are sought. There are attractive prices for the three best entries: 300 euros for first place, 200 euros for the second and 100 euros for third place. An additional highlight is the chance that the winning photo will be printed in the Kiba church calendar 2026.
If you want to participate, you must be at least 18 years old and can submit up to five photos in the JPG format, which should have a minimum resolution of 8 megapixels. Each picture should be given the corresponding information about the church, such as the location and state. Catharina Hasenclever, the managing director of the Kiba Foundation, emphasizes the growing participation in such a competition and emphasizes the importance of the places of worship in our society. Further details are available on the Kiba Foundation.
This lively exchange about art and spirituality shows how alive the commitment in the parishes is. It will be exciting to see what wonderful recordings the participants will contribute!
