Summer holidays in the planetarium: adventures for little astronauts!
The Wartburgkreis Adult Education Center has put together an exciting summer holiday program in the Bad Salzungen Planetarium for all little astronomy fans. At Burgseestraße 7 A, in the idyllic Bad Salzungen on Lake Burgsee, children and young people can immerse themselves in the fascinating world of the universe.
On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, two events start: In the morning from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., little visitors can look forward to an exciting journey with Captain Schnuppe, an extraterrestrial dog who flies with them through the planetary system. In the afternoon from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., participants can discover the development of space travel and its achievements in the program “From the First Rocket to the Enterprise.”
Fascinating discoveries
But that's not all! On Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., children can experience the adventures of polar bears and penguins on their journey from the North Pole to the South Pole in the “Polaris” program. On the same day, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., the impressive event “From the Big Bang to the Present,” which depicts the creation and changes of celestial bodies in a captivating 3D projection, will be held.
Another highlight is on the program on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. From 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., attendees can discover the exciting details of the Apollo 11 mission, which launched on July 16, 1969 and brought humanity to the moon. This takes a look behind the scenes of the legendary mission.
Interactive experiences for everyone
The planetarium in Bad Salzungen, which has been known for its hand-made projection equipment from Carl Zeiss Jena since it opened in 1983, not only offers this summer program, but also regular events, special events such as children's birthdays and company celebrations. With a dome diameter of 8.0 meters and a height of 6.5 meters, it is an ideal place to be enchanted by the stars. For very special occasions, there is even the opportunity to enjoy a 4-course dinner under the artificial starry sky - of course, only if the sky is clear!
Important to know: Entry is only possible cashless via Girocard or debit card. Pre-registration for the events is strongly recommended. This can simply be sent by email vhs@wartburgkreis.de or by phone at 03695 / 61-7254.
For anyone interested in visiting, the planetarium can be reached at the telephone number +49 3695 / 55 37-10 available. You can find out more about the offerings and events on the Wartburgkreis Adult Education Center website: www.vhs-wartburgkreis.de.
In today's world, when science often takes a back seat, such projects are a real ray of hope. They not only introduce children to astronomy, but also promote their interest in related areas of knowledge, as is the case with the programs of other planetariums, for example in Berlin: interactive and cross-curricular content on astronomy that complements the curriculum and makes learning exciting.
Whether for young or old, the stars are waiting to be discovered - a high for everyone who likes to turn night into day and dream of the infinity of the cosmos! Come by and experience magical moments full of knowledge and wonder.
