Thuringia's restaurants shine with Michelin stars 2025!
In the heart of Germany's culinary landscape, the \"Guide Michelin 2025\" has handed out new awards in an impressive way. Thuringia's gourmet addresses were able to successfully defend their stars. Above all, the restaurants \"Masters\" and \"The First\" in the Spa & GolfResort Weimarer Land as well as \"BjörnsOx\" and \"Clara - Restaurant im Kaisersaal\" in Erfurt, which each received one star for top cuisine. The presented list shows that the culinary diversity in Germany will continue to shine in 2025 and the value of regional and seasonal products in gastronomy is constantly increasing. MDR reports.
The new gourmet guide was presented on June 17, 2025 in Frankfurt am Main. While the restaurant scene in Thuringia is not traditionally in the forefront, this year's defense of all stars shows a certain consistency and culinary skill. Last year, the Spa & GolfResort Weimarer Land was even temporarily the accommodation of the German and English national football teams - a place where fine cuisine and top sporting performance come together.
A look at the stars
The guide's resolution refers to a total of 341 restaurants in Germany that have been awarded at least one star. Among these are:
The trend-conscious movement towards plant-based cuisine and sustainable practices is reflected not only in the number of award-winning restaurants, but also in the awarding of 80 Green Stars to restaurants that practice responsible cooking with a focus on regionality and seasonality. Of these, 14 restaurants are new to this category. The daily card reports on the star distribution.
Thuringia has a total of four star restaurants, but remains relatively poorly represented in a nationwide comparison. This year “BjörnsOx” was even able to achieve a Green Star in the Wartburg district for its sustainable cooking skills. This is awarded to restaurants that value regional products and handle food responsibly. In particular, the focus on animal welfare and waste avoidance is more important than ever these days.
New and excellent
A total of 15 new Bib Gourmand restaurants were recognized, representing an extensive selection of delicious yet affordable dining. There are currently 156 Bib Gourmand restaurants in Germany. While Hamburg and Munich are at the top with two 3-star restaurants each, Berlin also has a strong presence with 22 star restaurants. The Michelin Guide highlights the new green stars and their delicious backgrounds.
The Special Awards winners' circle also demonstrates the diversity and talent that flourish in German gastronomy. Among others, Danielle Oos from Wein- und Tafelhaus in Trittenheim received the Service Award, while Luis Hendricks from Pietsch in Wernigerode received the Young Chef Award for innovative cooking skills.
Overall, it can be said that the gourmet guide in this issue once again brings to light the various facets of German cuisine and encourages readers to discover and support local and sustainable restaurants. The awards are an invitation to immerse yourself in the exciting world of fine cuisine – in Thuringia and beyond.
