Missed opportunity: Dispute over community school in Wartburg district escalates!
The topic of community schools is currently very popular in the Wartburg district. In a recent press release, the Free Voters, BfE, LAD and Green groups described the recent vote on the application to introduce a community school as a “missed opportunity”. The Green district spokeswoman Nele Bär expressed sharp criticism of the opponents of the community school concept and referred to misunderstandings that they had expressed regarding the application. Mayor Michael Reinz (FW) reported consistently positive experiences with the community school in Treffurt, which has been working successfully since the beginning of the school year.
The community school, which is seen in Germany as an efficient option for the individual support of students, is full of potential. Students have the opportunity to obtain various qualifications from grade 8 onwards, including the secondary school leaving certificate and even the general university entrance qualification. This offers a broad perspective for young learners and contributes positively to learning motivation. The Thuringian Community School has also set itself the clear goal of responding individually to the learning and development needs of the students, which is combined with different levels of demands for teaching. This strengthens the sense of belonging in the classes and ensures optimal support.
The community school in Stadtlengsfeld
The Stadtlengsfeld community school, which was built on August 1st, 2022, has clearly positioned itself in its school offerings. It is located at Eisenacher Straße 1 a, 36466 Dermbach and is responsible for students from Dermbach and Weilar. There are currently 272 students attending the school, including 15 first graders. The school pursues the goal of joint learning and teaching as well as individual support in stable learning groups.
Particularly noteworthy is the facility's accessibility, which ensures that all students can benefit equally from the offerings. In the coming school year 2024/2025, an estimated 263 students will learn in 13 classes at the community school. These figures illustrate the relevance of schools in rural areas and the need to maintain appropriate school locations.
School development in the Wartburg district
The discussion about the community school in the Wartburg district is therefore not just a political debate, but directly affects the educational opportunities for young people in the region. The introduction of community schools is seen as a crucial factor in strengthening regional school development. This not only offers new perspectives for the students, but the schools themselves also have the chance to try out innovative approaches to education.
The goal remains clear: to offer the children a supervised and individually tailored learning environment in which they can grow together. The opportunity for future-oriented education must not go to waste. It is therefore to be hoped that the arguments and positive experiences will not fail to have their effect and that the community will soon decide to introduce this type of school.
