Wartburgkreis receives 1.3 million euros for new cultural venues!
Culture is very important in the Wartburg district! The district has just been selected as one of the 30 regions that are part of the federal funding program “Aller.Land – shape together. Strengthen structures.” be promoted. Over the next five years, up to 1.3 million euros will flow into the cultural development of the region in order to strengthen social participation and cohesion in rural areas. This reports Rhoen Canal.
The focus is on the creation and reactivation of five multifunctional cultural sites in different communities in the Wartburg district. The first project, the culture laboratory in Bad Salzungen, has already started successfully. The other four cultural venues are scheduled to open by the end of 2028 and enable diverse, cross-generational cultural activities. Cultural advisor Gloria Dittmar-Wegner emphasizes how important it is to shape culture together.
Diverse funding opportunities and project experiences
The Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agriculture (BMEL) has also already invested a lot. As part of the Rural Development and Regional Value Creation (BULEplus) program, the ministry supported around 260 cultural projects in rural regions. A networking meeting recently took place in which around 80 actors took part in order to derive recommendations for action. Findings from this exchange could also be important for implementation in the Wartburg district.
An important result of the BULEplus is the finding that there is a need for adapted funding options that take into account the diversity of topics and actors in rural regions. Flexible funding programs and the development of networks are crucial to ensuring long-term success. This shows that close exchange and a supportive environment for volunteers are necessary in order to administer and implement projects well.
Art and culture for everyone
Another aspect of cultural support in rural areas is highlighted by the “Aller.Land” program. This program aims to promote social life in structurally weak rural regions by focusing on active participation by committed local people. A total of 97 regions have already taken part in the first phase of this program in 2024, and the accompanying partners such as the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media show how seriously the issue is taken. Further information on this can be found on the website Minister of State for Culture to find.
The Wartburgkreis has taken the first steps towards creating cultural institutions that not only strengthen the local community, but also offer a lively, cross-generational culture. The planned cultural formats such as creative workshops, storytelling cafés and theater evenings promise to promote regional identity and exciting cultural participation. A beginning that gives hope for more and shows how lively culture can be in rural areas.
