Approach in Weimarer Land: suspicious cyclist wanted!

In the Weimar region, there was an alarming incident on Monday afternoon, July 1, 2025. Unknown perpetrators set fire to a barley field between Hottelstedt and Ottmannshausen, which led to considerable damage and a police operation. According to the report of the MZ, around 1,000 square meters of field and an additional 500 square meters of street ditch were affected.

The voluntary fire brigades from Ramsla, Buttelstedt and Berlstedt were quickly on hand and were able to successfully delete the resulting smoldering fire. An attempt to light a nearby stack of wood failed, which means that the fire remained at least in the frame. The amount of damage is currently unclear, but destruction is another alarm sign for the increasing cases of arson that have been observed in the recent past.

A witness reported a suspicious cyclist at around 12:00 p.m. at 12:00 p.m. The boy, estimated at around 16 to 17 years old and 170 cm tall, had dark blonde hair and wore a black helmet together with a half mask with a mirrored visor and a mouth protection.
