Jan Schletter: From advertising to tree keeper – passion for nature unleashed!
At a time when sustainability and closeness to nature are very popular, Cologne is looking at a new player in the space: Jan Schletter, who is active as a tree keeper in his free time. The 57-year-old, who is already successful as co-owner of the advertising agency “unikat”, has decided to live out his passion for horticulture and nature more. This is reported by the Cronenberg week.
The inspiration for this step came from his daughter, who works as a vegetable farmer. So Schletter signed up for a tree care course that took place at Tonndorf Castle in Thuringia. In a total of 185 hours of training, he learned valuable techniques that he has been able to put into practice since July 2024. The pruning of fruit trees and the preservation of orchards are particularly important to him. These habitats are not only important for nature, but also provide shelter for a wide variety of species - up to 5,000 to be exact.
Practical implementation and offers
Schletter has already cut the first trees according to Tonndorf's principles, using special tools from Japan and Switzerland. Interested Cologne residents can look forward to non-binding visits to their gardens, during which Schletter will assess the condition of their trees and give valuable tips. He can be reached at the email address schletter@unikat.net and by telephone at 0170/5584709. A tree warden homepage is currently in the works.
But there is not only a lot happening in horticulture, the world of technology also has a lot of exciting things to offer. An analysis shows that sales in the smartwatch market in 2023 were an impressive $29.77 billion. And what can we expect for the future? The Forecasts suggest that we will see innovative designs and health-focused features that could enrich the lives of both athletes and technology lovers.
Smartwatches in focus
The popularity of smartwatches continues unabated – primarily because of their multifunctional uses. Current trends show an increasing demand for devices that not only offer elegant designs but are also equipped with long-lasting batteries and advanced health monitoring features. In 2025 you could increasingly see the following types of smartwatches:
- Smartwatches mit Fokus auf Gesundheit: Mit Funktionen wie ECG und Schlafanalyse.
- Wearables Fitness: Hochpräzises GPS und verbesserte Wasserbeständigkeit für Sportler.
- Ultra verbundene Smartwatches: 5G-Konnektivität und Sprachassistenten für eine nahtlose Nutzung.
- Robuste und langlebige Modelle: Ideal für Abenteurer und anspruchsvolle Umgebungen.
Smartwatches are more than just gadgets; they promote proactive health monitoring and enable independent use without a smartphone. The possibilities seem limitless and offer something for every user.
Another exciting area is podcasts, which are also gaining in importance. About the app Pandora Users can create favorite stations from different genres and discover over 1,400 podcasts. The variety ranges from current singles to comprehensive personal music and podcast experiences - a real treat for music lovers.
There is a lot going on in Cologne both in nature and in the digital world. While Jan Schletter promotes the beauty of nature as a passionate arborist, innovative technologies bring a breath of fresh air into our everyday lives. Cologne remains an exciting place for nature lovers and technology enthusiasts alike!
