How stern.de According to reports, the Schmücke Tunnel, one of the longest road tunnels in Thuringia, will be completely closed between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. The reason for the measure is a fire drill that is taking place in the tunnel that day.
The diversion for traffic in the direction of Sangerhausen takes place from the Kölleda junction via the L1051, the B85 and the L3086 to the Heldrungen junction. For traffic in the direction of Erfurt, the diversion route is planned from the Artern junction via the L1172, the B86, the L3086, the B85 and the L1051 to the Kölleda junction.
Current traffic routing on the A71

Exiting traffic is redirected via the Artern junction, while oncoming traffic is directed towards Sangerhausen at Heldrungen and “turns around” at the Kölleda junction. The current 1+1 traffic route between the Schmücke tunnel and the Kölleda junction will therefore remain in place.
The renewal of the Schweinfurt carriageway, which has been underway since July 21, 2025, will result in additional delays in traffic flow due to the tunnel work. The diversions are therefore very important in order to minimize the impact on travelers.
