Tradition meets new arrivals: VfL fans celebrate an unforgettable evening!

On July 22, 2025, around 40 green and white VfL Wolfsburg supporters gathered for a cozy evening at the spa and golf resort in Weimarer Land. The focus was on the traditional barbecue, which took place in a warm atmosphere. The team's head coach opened the buffet and welcomed the fans in both German and English. In his address, he expressed the hope that the supporters would enjoy their time and also take part in the next training session. For many fans it was a familiar occasion, while for the new arrivals it was a completely new experience as they were introduced to the club's traditions. Paul Simonis, an important part of the team, emphasized how important such evenings are for getting to know each other. Also new to the team is Mathias “Matze” George, who has been working as a fan representative since April 1st and attended his first training camp. He was thrilled by the atmosphere and the fans' openness to spending their vacation with the team.

The shared meal was highlighted as a special moment that promotes exchange between fans, team, coaching staff and those responsible. Such events are not only culinary highlights, but also strengthen the bond between the club and its supporters. In addition to the culinary delights, it was also about promoting a community that goes beyond football.

New faces in the club

An interesting development within the club is the new strategic direction under the chairman of the supervisory board Sebastian Rudolph, who has been in office since the beginning of August 2023. Rudolph, 47 years old, brings his experience in communications, sustainability and politics at Porsche AG to the world of football. He followed in big footsteps when he replaced Frank Witter and formed a streamlined control committee. His visit to the training camp in Schladming, Austria, illustrated the commitment to interacting with fans. According to Rudolph, a central goal of VfL is to both get the women's team into the title race and focus the men on international ranks.

The new chairman of the supervisory board also has clear ambitions to compete with big clubs like Bayern Munich without overestimating their value. With a special focus on team spirit, fairness and passion, Rudolph strives for close teamwork. Squad planning also plays an important role, with planned additions being independent of possible departures. These decisions reflect an ambitious goal and show that the club is willing to assert itself in the Bundesliga and beyond.

A look into the future

The plans chaired by Rudolph and the new managing director Peter Christiansen, who played a key role in finding a suitable successor for Witter, give hope for a breath of fresh air in the club. Rudolph's close connection to VW boss Oliver Blume should not be underestimated and could bring important strategic advantages. The clear commitment to team performance and common goals ensures that VfL Wolfsburg wants to continue to play a strong role in German football in the future.

The fans can only hope that these new structures and personalities will help make VfL Wolfsburg even more successful. Shared experiences like the barbecue in Weimarer Land are an essential part of the club culture, which welcomes both tradition and new faces.
