VfL Wolfsburg: Xhemaili stays in Eindhoven – reports of changes are increasing!

There is some movement at VfL Wolfsburg in the current transfer phase, and the news is literally coming thick and fast. As the WAZ According to reports, the club has already signed ten new signings, but is planning to make one or two more transfers. Departures from the squad are expected to increase, particularly for striker Ariana Arias, who is facing a move to Unión Deportiva Tenerife.

Another significant transfer concerns Riola Xhemaili. The 20-year-old Swiss was unable to assert herself in Wolfsburg and is now permanently signed by PSV Eindhoven; a contract until 2028 awaits her. Wolfsburg will receive a transfer fee of around 50,000 euros. Xhemaili scored one goal in 12 competitive games last season and previously played for SC Freiburg.

Successful time in Eindhoven

At PSV Eindhoven last season, Xhemaili showed what she was made of: in 22 games she scored ten goals and provided six assists. Her strong performance could also be the reason why she is now part of the Swiss national team squad for the upcoming European Championships. Before her move, Xhemaili emphasized how important it was for her to be clear about her sporting future, especially before such an important tournament.

VfL sports director Ralf Kellermann commented on the solution with Xhemaili, which will certainly also benefit coach Stephan Lerch's team. In addition, the coaching work will begin with new challenges, as the first training sessions are scheduled for next week, accompanied by performance tests on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

A new wind in the team

But that's not all: Smilla Vallotto, who most recently held the regular place in Xhemaili's position, is also moving to Hammarby. VfL will be able to welcome several new faces to the squad and is determined to tackle the challenges ahead.

The international players from VfL who are taking part in the European Championships will go back to training after the tournament. They don't return until early August. Before that, however, test matches against RB Leipzig on July 17th and against Sparta Prague on July 26th are planned. Another test match against Union Berlin is scheduled for August 10th.

A lot will happen at VfL Wolfsburg in the next few days. The club has big plans for the coming season and will do everything in its power to form a powerful team that can compete both nationally and internationally. As we all know, the competition never sleeps, and so it will be interesting to see what other transfers are coming up. The road to success is sure to be exciting!
