The children's house Mitte in Waiblingen faces a fundamental change that affects both the teachers and the childcare children. According to ZVW is no longer possible. Therefore, the daycare center is expected to be abandoned. In the transition phase, around 150 children and teachers are to move to the Comenius school. Some of the children have already taken this step, while the complete move should be completed by September 2025 at the latest.

The decision not to carry out the planned renovation was made due to the high costs and the poor structural condition of the daycare center. These are not the only challenges with which the facility is confronted. In order to be able to offer the children an appealing and beneficial care, the children's house in the middle has carried out various projects in the past.

A special highlight in the middle of the children's house is the raised bed in the garden. Here the children can experience the entire process of gardening together with pedagogical specialists - from the selection of plants to sow to harvest. This project is part of the healthcare project of the facility and promotes the understanding of children for health and sustainable nutrition. In addition, the children's home is a certified “house of little researchers”, which means that the children receive low -threshold access to scientific topics.

The city of Waiblingen strives to further improve the quality of life for families by expanding offers for childcare. Reference is also made to initiatives such as the "clothing shop", where families can no longer be able to hand in clothing - these are then available to other families. The commitment of the city for families also shows the possibility of lending games and books as part of the "home game".
