Three WHU start-ups conquer the top 100 in Dach & Cee 2025!

In an impressive performance, three start-ups founded at the WHU-Otto Beisheim School of Management have received a place in the prestigious Sifted 100 ranking for Dach & CEE in 2025. This award honors the fastest growing start-ups in Central and Eastern Europe and highlights the entrepreneurial diversity of the WHU community.

The celebrated companies include Heydata, Hopkins and Kalia Lab. Prof. Dr. Dries Faems, the owner of the Chair of Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Technological Transformation at WHU, comments on this success as evidence of the entrepreneurial potential of alumni. The start-ups are not only characterized by innovative business models, but also mostly do without external financing.

innovations and business models

Heydata offers solutions in the field of data protection and compliance. Founded by Miloš Djurdjević (BSC 2014) and Daniel Deutsch (MSC 2017), companies enable companies to achieve their compliance goals scalable and automatically. Hopkins, founded by Simon Wolff (BSC 2015), is a legal tech platform that uses artificial intelligence to test contracts and thus simplifies legal processes. Finally, Kalia Lab, launched by Max Renneberg (D 2008), forms a network of the latest clinics for aesthetic medicine and focuses on the health and wellness segment.

The foundation of a company, such as that of the three WHU start-ups, is supported by various initiatives in the European Union. According to the information from Europe, EU citizens can found in another EU country or in countries such as Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein. The cornerstones for starting the company stipulate that business start -ups can register your company within just three working days and at the costs of a maximum of 100 euros. Furthermore, it is ideally done via a central authority, and many registration formalities are to be regulated online.

Support for start-ups in the EU

The EU has also launched several programs to support start-ups. Initiatives such as Startup Europe promote the networking of start-ups, investors and universities. The Startup Europe Partnership platform supports Scale-Ups in their growth. The Inveu-Portal offers a comprehensive database for investors and project sponsors, while the Erasmus program for young entrepreneurs creates exchange opportunities for prospective founders.

These supportive structures could also be important for the WHU start-ups, which have to assert themselves in a dynamic and competitive environment. Sifted, a medium with a focus on the European start-up community and supported by the Financial Times, appropriately recognized the successes of these innovative companies.
