Call of donations: Warm clothing for homeless people urgently wanted!
In the cold season, the situation for homeless people is often particularly hard. The Weser 5 Diakoniezentrum In the Frankfurt Bahnhofsviertel is looking for support. The facility, directed by Christiane Wirtz, has announced that the clothing store is currently closed. Nevertheless, the need for warm clothes and shoes for homeless people is still urgent.
Tackings for homeless men are particularly in demand, including well -preserved dressing clothes such as thick jackets, pants in sizes 31, 32 and 33 and sneakers. Underwear, socks, sweaters, T-shirts and shirts are also welcome for women. "Robust pieces are the most helpful," emphasizes Wirtz, "Business clothing is less suitable." The donations can be submitted around the clock, both on the gate and on Weserstrasse 5/corner Gutleutstrasse.
donations around the clock
The team in the Diakoniezentrum is happy about every donation that helps homeless people. Even if the temperatures become milder, the need for warm clothing remains unbroken. "It would be great if our fellow human beings would support us in this emergency," said an employee of the Diakonie Center. The donations can easily be handed over - you just have to ring. In addition, the Diakoniezentrum also offers a day meeting that is used every day by over 200 people.
The situation of homeless people is not only increasingly visible in Frankfurt, but also throughout Germany. The Diakonie tirelessly works on combating homelessness and provides around 800 offers nationwide. These range from emergency accommodation to social advice to day stays, where simple hygiene offers and favorable meals are available.
causes and support offers
The causes of homelessness are diverse: rent debts, economic emergencies or critical life events such as separations or diseases. The high social isolation that many affected people experience is particularly worrying. Diakonie actively campaigns for the creation of affordable living space and a socially just housing policy.
Finally, there are numerous initiatives that should make life easier for homeless people. Programs such as cold buses offer important support from hot drinks, blankets and sleeping bags in the winter months. The Federal Government is currently also active with a national action plan against homelessness that aims to eliminate this problem by 2030.
To make a small contribution and help homeless people, every donation of clothing and shoes in the Diakoniezentrum is extremely valuable. We can all ensure that fewer people have to spend the night on the street.
