Traffic chaos in Saxony-Anhalt: Two accidents and cable thieves on the way!
A turbulent day in Halle (Saale) and Querfurt caused worrying news. On the afternoon of September 26, 2025, two serious traffic accidents occurred, resulting in both property damage and injuries. According to a report by the [sachsen-anhalt.de](https://www.sachsen-anhalt.de/bs/pressemitigungen/polizei?tx_tsarssinclude_pi1%5Baction%5D=single &tx_tsarssinclude_pi1%5Bcontroller%5D=Base&tx_tsarssinclude_pi1%5Buid%5D=601911&cHash=1093b6a093d5712590096577341157e6) There was a serious accident on Talstrasse in Halle shortly before 3:30 p.m. when a car crashed into a house wall. Two occupants of the vehicle were seriously injured and had to be taken to hospital immediately. The police have already started investigating the accident.
But another incident also occurred in Querfurt today. At around 9:30 a.m. two cars collided at the junction with the Querfurt federal motorway. One person suffered minor injuries in this collision and was taken to hospital for evaluation. A vehicle that came from the highway and turned onto state road 176 collided with another car that was driving from the direction of Querfurt. This caused one of the cars to overturn. Both vehicles were recovered by towing services while police investigate the accident.
Focus on traffic accident data
Traffic accidents are a serious problem, which is also clear in the statistics from the statistical offices. These statistics provide reliable, comprehensive and current data on the road safety situation in Germany. The findings serve as a basis for measures in legislation, traffic education and road construction. By recording differentiated accident events, causes and effects can be better analyzed.
What is particularly worrying is that over 85% of accidents in the ADAC accident database result in serious or fatal injuries, as ADAC.de highlights. Since 2005, the ADAC has been analyzing serious traffic accidents in Germany in order to research causes and make recommendations for accident prevention. The collaboration with ADAC Luftrettung, which has over 40,000 missions annually, provides valuable data on frequent accidents and enables ongoing development of safety measures.
The dangers of road traffic
Another important aspect is the risk of injury on the road. Statistics show that country roads in particular are dangerous. Over 57% of traffic fatalities and 39% of seriously injured people die on these roads. Distraction or loss of control are often the main causes of these accidents. Intersection accidents also account for almost 25% of total traffic accidents, with other road users often being overlooked.
The introduction of new technologies such as emergency braking assistants and turning assistants for trucks, which will be required by law from 2024, could help reduce the number of accidents. The requirement to wear seat belts in Germany has already reduced the number of road deaths by 75%. The question remains as to what further measures are necessary to further increase safety on our roads.
