Alcohol furniture: trash can in Halle on fire, driver intoxicated!
An exciting weekend in the region: Numerous incidents have caused excitement in the past few days. From vandalism to alcohol-related traffic accidents, here are the latest events that concern us.
In Halle (Saale) there was a bizarre incident on Richard-Wagner-Strasse on Saturday night when unknown people set a trash can on fire and tried to stuff an e-scooter into it. Fortunately, the e-scooter remained undamaged, but there was damage to the trash can. The fire brigade quickly arrived on the scene and extinguished the fire, while the police checked a group of people nearby whose possible connection to the incident is still being determined. This type of vandalism is always a topic that keeps citizens and law enforcement on their toes and is a topic of conversation.
Drink driving
Particularly alarming are the drunk driving incidents that occurred on Friday. In Beuna, on Alte Werkstrasse, a driver was checked whose breath alcohol level was 0.94 per mille. This is already well above the permissible limit of 0.5 per mille for drivers, which had consequences: a blood sample was ordered and his further driving was prohibited. In Frankleben, too, a driver ignored the police's stop signals and tried to flee with a breath alcohol level of 1.0 per mille. However, the sensational escape attempt ended quickly and the police were able to bring him to the ground.
The alcohol alcohol limits for drivers are clearly regulated: under the age of 21 and during the probationary period, there is an absolute ban on alcohol, while relative inability to drive begins at just 0.3 per mille. If the value is over 1.1 per mille, there is a risk of criminal prosecution, which in the worst case can even lead to a medical-psychological examination. Financial responsibility should also be particularly taken into account - insurance companies can demand recourse of up to 5,000 euros for accidents under the influence of alcohol, which can lead to real problems, as the ADAC shows ADAC.
FDriving under the influence: A widespread problem
Statistics show that drinking and driving is a serious problem. According to that Federal Statistical Office There were over 250,000 alcohol-related traffic accidents in Germany in 2024. This number should give us all something to think about, because alcohol not only endangers our own safety, but also the safety of other road users.
Another incident occurred on Friday evening on the B80, where a traffic accident between two cars was recorded with no injuries. The driver had a breath alcohol level of 1.19 per mille, which led to a blood sample being taken and his driving license being confiscated. In Gerbstedt, too, a driver hit a gate pillar while reversing and had a blood alcohol level of 0.52, which once again raises the question of how responsibly alcohol is handled on the road.
The incidents show that further awareness of the dangers of drunk driving is urgently needed. Especially in a country where road safety is of utmost importance, we should remain vigilant and take responsibility for ourselves and those around us seriously.
