Federal police arrest wanted Russian in Halle – train attendant raises the alarm!

In a remarkable arrest, the federal police caused a stir on October 13, 2025 when they arrested a wanted 29-year-old Russian on the S-Bahn between Leipzig and Halle (Saale). The incident occurred around 9:25 a.m. when a train conductor informed the police after he picked up two men without IDs and tickets. However, when the S-Bahn reached Halle main station, both presented valid Germany tickets and ID cards, which initially caused confusion. But the real problem lay in the background, because the 29-year-old was urgently wanted by the Leipzig public prosecutor's office.

In June 2024, he was sentenced by the Borna district court to a fine of 400 euros or a substitute prison sentence of 50 days for bodily harm. Since he remained insolvent, an arrest warrant was issued against him in August 2025. Thanks to the police's quick response, the man was arrested in Halle. However, after paying the fine, he was quickly released.

A complicated situation

His 18-year-old companion wanted to act as an interpreter and helped him during the inspection. But things took an unpleasant turn when the teenager aggressively attacked a police officer. He kicked the officer in the thigh and spat in the direction of a female officer, but missed her. These incidents led to several proceedings being initiated against the 18-year-old for assault, resisting law enforcement officers and bodily harm. Such outbursts are aimed at complicating the work of the police and complicating the situation on board trains.

In another incident that occurred on June 13, 2025, tensions also occurred on a train. A 27-year-old Italian presented himself as extremely uncooperative to the officials on the EC172 from Berlin to Hamburg. He was unable to show a valid card during a ticket inspection and then tried to escape at Bergedorf train station. This led to a physical altercation with a train conductor and a federal police officer, which thank God ended without injuries. The perpetrator was finally released with a blood alcohol level of 0.82 and now has to answer for fraudulent benefits and bodily harm.

A look at the crime situation in Germany

The latest statistics show that the development of crime in Germany presents a multi-faceted picture. According to the police crime statistics from the Federal Criminal Police Office, there was a decrease of 1.7% to around 5.84 million crimes in 2024. The main reason cited is the partial legalization of cannabis since April 2024, which has led to a decline in the number of related crimes. However, there is an increase in crimes affecting citizens' sense of security, which represents a worrying trend. The likelihood of becoming a victim of crime is particularly higher in city states such as Berlin, Bremen and Hamburg.

The clearance rate was 58% in 2024, slightly lower than in the previous year. What is particularly striking is the increase in non-German suspects, which rose to 41.8%. In a country that is constantly struggling with challenges in the area of internal security, the incidents on the trains become a further indicator of the problem.
