Afghan local workers flee to Germany despite program stop!

Afghanistan is a country full of challenges and the situation of its citizens, especially local workers, remains tense. Despite the suspension of the admission program for Afghan citizens, Afghans continue to travel to Germany. Loud World Almost 2,000 Afghans are waiting in Pakistan to legally leave the country, with some of them who have already received approval flying to Germany. The current transport connection goes through Istanbul, and people arrive in Germany, although the program has been stopped since May 2023.

A constant flow of Afghan refugees leaving their homeland can be observed. Since the change of power in 2021, when the Taliban retook control of Afghanistan, many fleeing persecution and human rights abuses have found themselves on hold. According to information, the federal government has identified around 1,910 people with a commitment to work in Pakistan, including around 220 former local workers and 600 people from the bridging program.

Waiting times and challenges

The situation in Pakistan is extremely challenging for many families. They have been waiting in Islamabad for a chance to leave the country not only for months, but sometimes for years. Some of those affected will receive visas despite the program stop because they have filed a lawsuit against the decision in Germany. This shows how important legal action is in the current situation in order to get a ray of hope.

Leipzig/Halle Airport recently received visits from 138 Afghans, including numerous children and young people. These people have already received confirmation of admission. However, there are no new commitments because safety has the highest priority during recordings. It is questionable what will happen next with the newly arriving refugees, especially since the future black-red federal government plans to suspend the admission programs for people in particular need of protection, including Afghans ( daily news ).

Security reviews and reviews

The security checks when issuing visas have come under criticism. The public prosecutor's office is also investigating suspected illegal entry permits. Meanwhile, the number of vulnerable Afghans still waiting in Pakistan – around 2,600 in total – remains worrying. Many hope that their fate will not be completely forgotten and that they will receive the support they need.

The “Kabul Airlift” organization plays a crucial role in helping Afghans enter Germany. But the government coalition's focus on security aspects and reducing humanitarian admissions pose a major challenge.

The situation is complex and requires a differentiated approach. Human commitments must be adhered to while at the same time paying attention to the security policy framework. The federal government's next steps could be decisive for what happens to the Afghans in Pakistan and whether the mountain of people hoping for a better life will soon become smaller.
