Munich customs impressed: 6.1 billion euros and 2,141 investigations!

In 2024, the main customs office in Munich achieved impressive 6.1 billion euros in household revenue and edited around 2.4 million goods. The head, Dr. Stephanie Nusser, emphasized the importance of around 900 employees to ensure government revenue and the protection of consumers. The contribution of consumer taxes of one billion euros was particularly remarkable, while the beer tax earned the Free State of Bavaria around 44 million euros.

In addition, the customs carried out 699 exams and 2,141 investigation, which led to fines of almost one million euros in total. At Munich Airport, the customs officers secured 534 kg of drugs and over 200 banned weapons. The fight against product piracy increased drastically, with around 135,000 confiscated counterfeits, mainly from Asia. This illustrates the decisive role of customs for the economy and the security of the citizens.
