Helmut Schleich: Cabaret star celebrates with Pure Schleich! Comeback!
Helmut Schleich returns to BR television with a new show. The premiere of "Pure Schleich!" is planned for the coming Thursday at 9 p.m. After the end of his previous program "Schleich TV" in November 2023, Schleich felt that the content of his show received a "green side" and decided to break new ground. In the twelve years, in which "Schleich television" was broadcast, he parodyed over 150 figures, including well -known personalities such as Angela Merkel and Robert Habeck. The last episode, which was broadcast on November 30, 2023, took place in the Rheinpfalz cult pub in Munich-Schwabing and was visited by numerous guests, including Monika Gruber and Martin Frank. This decision to end the show was made in spring 2023 to devote itself more to the stage, while Schleich continues to write columns on the radio and in newspapers.
"Pure sneak!" Bring a breath of fresh air to the BR program and will stand out from its predecessor by more personal content and current topics. The audience is also presented by archive material from 85 episodes "Schleich TV". Schleich works with the new producer Uwe Bendixen and a dedicated team. In addition, he remains loyal to his parade role as Franz Josef Strauß and sees the current political situation as a good basis for cabaret, despite the increased sensitivity.
The challenges and return to the stage
The past few years have been challenging for many cabaret artists, including Schleich. During the Corona pandemic, there were intensive discussions about the content of his texts. Schleich emphasizes that even after his comeback, he is planning to continue his column on the radio on Bavaria 2 Fridays at 8:25 a.m. and 2:50 p.m. The new Pope is also dealt with in his new show, and Martin Frank has the first episode as a guest.
The cabaret has a long tradition in Germany, which goes back to the 1950s. During this time, cabaret theater began to establish themselves in larger cities. It became increasingly difficult to publish political satire, which in the past led to conflicts. The history of the television cabaret is characterized by a balance between entertainment and political criticism, and the live atmosphere was often considered decisive for the success of these formats. Pioneers like Wolfgang Neuss dealt with political grievances with their programs and paved their way for today's cabaret artists.
In particular, cabaret artists in the Federal Republic of Germany are awarded an important voice, their task is to denounce social and political undesirable developments. Schleich's return could therefore not be more appropriate to set a signal in a time. As the Bavarian Radio respects, the career of artists and Schleich remains of great importance for society.
