Humboldt Forum: Entry from October – What you need to know!
The Humboldt Forum in Berlin will introduce a new admission price policy from October 3, 2025, which will come as a surprise to many visitors. Until now you could visit numerous museums and exhibitions in the rebuilt city palace for free, but that is now changing. In a comprehensive reform, a uniform ticket system will be introduced that allows access to five different exhibitions.
With the new ticket you can visit the permanent exhibitions of the Ethnological Museum, the Museum of Asian Art as well as the special exhibitions such as “Family Relation” and the Knoblauchhaus Museum. A day ticket costs 14 euros (reduced 7 euros), while a two-day ticket is available for 18 euros (9 euros reduced). Group tickets for up to five adults are also offered, which cost 50 euros.
Discounts and free access
Particularly pleasing: entry remains free for children and young people up to the age of 19. There are also numerous discounts for specific groups. This includes students, volunteers, recipients of unemployment benefits and people with severe disabilities. These discounts also apply to the special exhibition “Berlin Global”, which is available separately for 9 euros.
The introduction of admission fees was necessary to ensure the financial stability of the Humboldt Forum. According to the foundation, the free rate was originally intended to be a temporary offer and it is expected that the new prices will be in place until at least mid-July 2026 until the long-term strategy is determined.
Free areas remain
But don't worry, culture lovers don't have to miss out on some areas: the Humboldt Laboratory, the Sculpture Hall as well as the castle cellars and the video panorama remain free of charge. The entire cultural event program and many educational activities are also accessible free of charge. This means that despite the new prices, there is still a wide range of free opportunities to engage with culture and history.
The new pricing model replaces the previously applicable differentiated tariffs and was introduced to address increasing operating costs and the need to fund new programs. It is clear that the attractiveness of the exhibitions and the commitment to cultural education should be maintained while the financial framework is secured in the long term.
Advance ticket sales began on August 13, 2025, and the first visitors can look forward to an exciting variety of exhibitions and programs. So anyone planning to visit the Humboldt Forum should prepare for the changes now. We can only hope that the new prices do not deter visitors, because culture should remain accessible to everyone.
