More than 50,000 participants: large demonstration All Eyes on Gaza” in Berlin!
On Saturday, September 30, 2025, Berlin will be the scene of a significant pro-Palestinian demonstration under the motto “All Eyes on Gaza”. More than 50,000 participants are expected, which could make this event one of the largest in Germany since the current protests against the situation in the Gaza Strip. Organizers and co-organizers like Jules El-Khatib are optimistic and want to exceed the number of participants in the largest demonstration to date, which attracted around 50,000 people. An alliance of 50 organizations, including the Palestinian Community of Germany, Medico International and Amnesty International, has called for this event.
The streets of Berlin will be closed from Friday so that expectations can be met. The traffic information center (VIZ) has already announced that the Straße des 17. Juni and Yitzhak-Rabin-Straße will not be accessible from Saturday morning until Sunday night. This means: Anyone traveling by car should look for alternatives in good time. The march will start at the Neptune Fountain at 2:30 p.m. and then move through the heart of the capital before ending at the Grand Star for a rally from 5 to 9 p.m.
Participants and messages
The organizers have invited prominent speakers to the event. Among the artists who will perform are K.I.Z, Ski Aggu and Pashanim. Jewish voices such as the musician Michael Barenboim will also be heard. The demonstration is accompanied by a clear call: it condemns the war crimes and human rights violations on both the Israeli and Palestinian sides, but directs the main criticism towards the Israeli government. The call also includes a demand for a stop to all German arms deliveries to Israel.
Despite the high expectations, there are some controversial aspects. The police registered only 30,000 participants for this demonstration - a discrepancy that raises questions. In addition, Islamist groups have appeared in certain parts of the demonstrations in recent weeks, which could put parts of the protest movement in a bad light. According to reports from the Federal Agency for Civic Education, pro-Palestinian demos have been taking place regularly in Germany since Hamas's terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which were mostly peaceful but were repeatedly criticized.
The framework and the demands
The demonstrators are demanding an immediate ceasefire and the unhindered flow of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. Activist Amal Hamad has emphasized that the protests are directed against injustice in the Gaza Strip and not against Jewish society in Germany. Racist or anti-Semitic statements will not be tolerated at the event, even if some initiators have been confronted with accusations of anti-Semitism in the past, which they vehemently deny. El-Khatib also reaffirmed his commitment to Israel's right to exist.
Given the polarity and sensitive issue affecting the entire region, security agencies will be all ears. It remains to be hoped that the rally, which conveys complex messages, is not portrayed in a negative light through riots. As many times before, this demonstration illustrates the struggle for hearing and understanding on both sides of the conflict.
So anyone who is out and about in Berlin on Saturday should be prepared for a lively and well-attended demonstration that will once again show that people in Germany are ready to stand up for their beliefs and views.
