Peter Fox shakes up Berlin's neighborhoods with free concerts!
In the summer of 2024, Berlin musician Peter Fox will bring a breath of fresh air into neighborhood culture. His plan: Several free concerts that will take place in lively districts such as Neukölln, Kreuzberg, Marzahn and Schöneberg. The heart of these events are fascinating locations such as the Columbiabad, the Pallasseum, the Görlitzer Park and the green spaces in Marzahn. ARD Mediathek reports on the eagerly awaited performances.
Peter Fox, known for the band “Seeed” and as a solo artist, wants to appeal to people and bring people together with his music. “It's about people who live next to each other in their neighborhoods coming together and celebrating,” he explains, referring to the concept of his events. The concerts are performed not only with his full band, but also with dancers and an impressive light and sound system. And the best part? Entry is free! Berlin Live
Line-up of newcomers
But Peter Fox is not alone on stage. He is accompanied by three emerging artists whose stories and talents reflect the energy of the city:
- Kevin (31) aus Neukölln, der unter dem Künstlernamen “44 Grad” auftritt und hauptberuflich als Erzieher tätig ist.
- Cerin (16), eine junge Schülerin aus Gropiusstadt, die ihren ersten eigenen Song für diesen Auftritt schreibt.
- Nik (24), der seit 17 Jahren in Marzahn lebt und durch seine Musik seine schwierige Kindheit verarbeitet.
The newcomers will speak about their experiences, challenges and dreams in a documentary. In addition to the musical performances, the focus is on topics such as lack of prospects and joy of life. The Block Party and its message
The concerts are part of the “Block Party” project and aim to celebrate the diversity of Berlin’s population. Peter Fox and his team had to struggle with bureaucratic hurdles when planning the events, but the anticipation for the concerts and the meeting of people remains undiminished. Many in the city are united by the hope of sending a sign of hope and solidarity through such events, which particularly motivates him.
From March 25, 2025, a concert and documentary film entitled “BLOCK PARTY – Peter Fox celebrates with Berlin” will also be available in the free ARD media library. This film, directed by David Seeberg, not only captures the exciting music festival situation, but also gives viewers insights behind the scenes. In the trailer, which is already online, you can get an idea of the special flair of the events.
In a city that is constantly vibrant, such events are not only a musical highlight, but also an important step in strengthening the community. One can only hope that Peter Fox will achieve exactly that with his concerts.
