Attempted arson attack in Berlin-Mariendorf: Warning about data centers!
Last Monday, November 6, 2025, an unignited incendiary device was discovered under dramatic circumstances in Berlin-Mariendorf. An employee of a security service came across the dangerous object, which was located at a transformer station, while patrolling the construction site in Marienpark.
Luckily there was no fire! The police officers immediately arrived and searched the entire area for further incendiary devices. Fortunately, the discovery of the incendiary device remained an isolated case - no other explosive materials could be found. The dangerous object has been secured. The state security agency has taken over the investigation because it is responsible for political crimes.
Political message in the letter of confession
A letter of confession was published on the Indymedia platform and was classified as authentic. It becomes clear that this attempted arson attack was directed against a planned data center campus for the Virtus company. The authors of the letter emphasize the negative consequences of the expansion of the digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence. This is not the first incident of this kind: there was already an attack on two high-voltage pylons in Johannisthal in September, which resulted in a widespread power outage for around 50,000 households.
What is happening in Berlin raises the question of how dangerous the situation actually is with regard to such radical actions. State security must keep an eye on all sides and at the same time ensure public safety.
A look into the future
It remains to be seen whether this incident will trigger a broader discussion about digital infrastructure and its social impact. Concerns about artificial intelligence and its growing role in our everyday lives could lead to increased awareness. Not just in Berlin, but possibly in other cities too. One thing is certain: political extremists always find ways to make their voices heard - sometimes in very dangerous ways.
The incident makes it clear that even in urban areas like Berlin there is a situation that makes people think. A shadow seems to have taken hold in the cooking salon of the digital future, in which data and technology are increasingly merging. A factor that we should not ignore.
Where dialogue begins, there is hope for solutions. But for this to happen, everyone involved must be prepared to pull together and work together for a better, more secure future.
The developments remain exciting and we will keep an eye on what is happening.
