Wegner fights against Islamist marches in Berlin!
Wegner fights against Islamist marches in Berlin!
In Berlin it is bubbling: The Governing Mayor Kai Wegner from the CDU has big plans to prevent Islamist demonstrations in the future. As tagesschau.de , Wegner is committed to an overdue change in the law. It is planned to fix the concept of public order again in the Freedom of Meeting Act. According to Wegner's opinion, this is necessary in order to avoid another encounter with the dangerous ideology of a caliphate.
The discussion about Islamist currents has recently received speed through incidents. In Brandenburg, for example, there are always debates, especially after the ban on the Al-Salam association and two suspected cases of Islamist attack planning. Wegner herself encounters with his demand to ask the SPD Senator Iris Spranger to take the necessary measures in a topic that moves many.
The ban and its consequences
A recent example of the explosive location was a rally planned by an Islamism influencer, which was prohibited by the police due to the "danger to security through violent glorification". While the Berlin Administrative Court accepted this ban, the Higher Administrative Court of Berlin-Brandenburg raised it, which Wegner perceives "incomprehensible". Here, up to 1,500 people gathered on the Schöneberger bank and kept up posters that wore sayings such as "Security through the caliphate in the Middle East". This art demo has thrown a light on the problems that many are concerned with in society.
Berlin police President Barbara Slovik Meisel, who found the judicial decision to be painful, warns the political leadership to deal more intensively with this problem. Wegner notes that the ideology of a caliphate is not only incompatible with the rule of law, but also with the democratic basic order. Here he urgently demands sad discussions and common decisions that are important for the future security of the city.
The nationwide dimension
But not only Berlin is affected. There is also considerable discussion in terms of Islamism at the federal level. The AfD parliamentary group failed at the beginning of June of this year with two applications in the Bundestag, which demanded increased combating of Islamist organizations. These concerns were rejected by the other political groups. For example, the first application provided for the fight against Islamist organizations to promote a ban on the "Muslim Interactive" association.
The topic is explosive: 577 MPs voted against the application for "Muslim interactive", and security authorities also refer to the threat that starts from such groups. Daniel Baldy from the SPD believes that the authorities have the situation under control. However, Christoph de Vries from CDU/CSU sees it differently and calls for the closure of the Islamic Center Hamburg.
Against this political background it becomes clear that the fight against Islamism in Germany has a top priority. Developments in Berlin are just a part of the Larger National Discourse, which will certainly have many debates and decisions. Everyone involved agrees: there is still something!
