Bernau rocks! Over 1,200 hikers at the 3rd Hiking Hero Marathon!

On June 28, 2025, the 3rd Hiking Hero hiking marathon took place in the Bernau city park, which was attended by more than 1,200 hikers from all over Germany. With summery high temperatures and a planned start at 7:30 a.m., anticipation was great. This event, organized by SCC-Events in cooperation with the city of Bernau, attracted participants of all ages and covered a distance of 44.5 kilometers through the picturesque landscape surrounding Bernau.

The route was not only physically demanding, but also offered the opportunity to discover the region together. “We wanted to promote a non-competitive nature where everyone has fun,” said one of the organizers. Participants could hike alone, in a team or with friends, which contributed to the mixed participant structure - from young to old, from hobby hikers to experienced outdoor enthusiasts.

Logistics and catering

The hikers started in the Bernau city park. They were well looked after by local clubs and firefighters at various refreshment and supply stations along the route. There was a wide selection of snacks, fruit and drinks to keep the hikers energized. The return of the first participants was planned for around 1:30 p.m. on Mayorstrasse, where the home straight awaited the exhausted but happy hikers.

“The food along the way was sensational!” was common feedback from participants. Many appreciated the commitment of the volunteers and the quality of the snacks. The hikers were able to end the day relaxed and satisfied later on the market square with food and drinks.

An event for the whole family

This year's event was not only a sporting event, but also an excellent opportunity to present Bernau as a sports city. Bernauer Stadtmarketing GmbH informed visitors about local highlights and promoted public awareness. The organizers invited everyone from Bern and guests to welcome the hikers at their destination and celebrate together - a nice end to a successful day.

In summary, the 3rd Hiking Hero was a complete success and the satisfied faces of the participants speak volumes. Many people were already calling for the next edition and showed that hiking in Bernau is very popular.
