New parking rules from July 10th: The escape route remains clear!
From July 10, 2025, partial parking will be permitted on the sidewalk on August-Bebel-Straße in Barnim in order to secure emergency routes.

New parking rules from July 10th: The escape route remains clear!
From July 10, 2025, drivers on August-Bebel-Straße in Eberswalde will face an important change: on the eastern side of the street, between house numbers 10 and 20, half-side parking on the sidewalk will be permitted. The decision comes after intensive consideration of the current circumstances, as the existing parking regulations turned out to be problematic. In particular, the width of passage for fire engines was no longer guaranteed with parking permitted on both sides, which endangered the safe access of rescue workers in an emergency, as barnim-aktuell.de reports.
The new plan stipulates that parking will still leave space for pedestrians in the future. The sidewalk is sufficiently wide and the curb is only about 10 cm high, which means it can be driven over when driving slowly. Further positive news: the concrete paving surface is ideal for parking and the regulation is interrupted near tree locations to protect the roots of the trees.
Parking options in Eberswalde
Eberswalde has many options for drivers looking for parking. The city center and the outskirts offer both paid and free parking spaces. While paid parking spaces in the city center cost between 1.00 and 2.00 euros per hour, you can also park for free for 15 to 30 minutes in certain zones, according to eberswalde-lokal.de.
The city's parking garages are also worth mentioning. One of the large car parks, the “Stadtcampus”, has around 300 parking spaces and offers an attractive maximum daily fee of 8.00 euros as well as numerous long-term parking spaces. Commuters can also benefit from the “Am Bahnhof” car park, where special rates for long-term parking are around 5.00 euros per day. Free parking is also possible on the outskirts of the city, especially near the forest botanical garden and the city forest.
Attractive offers for commuters and short-term parkers
The numerous parking options for commuters and long-term parkers are a particular advantage. Various parking spaces in Eberswalde are accessible around the clock and offer cost advantages. For example, the parking lot on Weinbergstrasse is free for the first two hours, which is convenient for short stays. If you want to stay a little longer, you should consider the Finowkanal car park on Bergerstrasse, where you have to pay a maximum of 2.50 euros per day, explains eberswalde-magazin.de.
An additional highlight is the Parkster app, which makes it easier for drivers to pay parking fees. This app makes it possible to only pay for the parking time actually used and offers the option of extending or canceling the parking ticket directly via your smartphone.
The new regulation on August-Bebel-Straße is not only an important step for safety, but also includes sensible parking for citizens in Eberswalde. Whether for short shopping trips or as a long-term parking option – Eberswalde has something to suit everyone.
