New phase of life: 96 first graders celebrate starting school in Werneuchen!

On September 6th, 2025 the time had come: The new Werneuchen elementary school warmly welcomed 96 new school starters. In a ceremonial event in the school auditorium, which was opened by Mayor Astrid Hildebrand, the new first graders were treated to an exciting start to their school life. “I wish you a successful start to school life!” the mayor appealed to the young students while encouraging them to have a wonderful and exciting time at school. These wishes also included all older students who are also starting a new school year.

But it wasn't just the celebratory setting that was important. A central concern of the event was to draw attention to road safety around the school area. The mayor warned all road users to be considerate of the new school starters and to focus on the safety of children.
