Driving under the influence of drugs: police stop driver in Nauen!

In recent days, the police in Havelland have recorded some unpleasant incidents and notable operations that are not only worrying, but also require the public's attention. How rathenow24 reported that an electric SUV was stolen in Falkensee on Friday, August 22, 2025. The owner had parked his vehicle on a public street when it was stolen on the night of Saturday, August 23rd. The police have already filed a criminal complaint and are looking for the vehicle. The criminal police have started the investigation.

Another case that concerned the police was the check of a 40-year-old driver in Nauen who was under the influence of drugs. A rapid drug test was carried out on her on Bahnhofstrasse, which came back positive. This resulted in her being taken to hospital for a blood sample and her being banned from traveling further. An administrative offense procedure was initiated, as it was adac.de Explained in detail: Drugs such as cannabis or cocaine in the blood lead to serious consequences, including possible imprisonment or large fines.

Drugs in traffic – an urgent problem

The incident in Nauen is not an isolated case. On Saturday evening, August 23rd, there was another case of hit and run in Brandenburg an der Havel, where a driver hit a parked vehicle while parking and then fled while heavily intoxicated. The breath alcohol test showed an impressive level of 1.95 per mille. This illustrates the urgency of the current discussion about drugs and alcohol on the roads. Figures from the Federal Motor Transport Authority show that drug offenses are a growing problem, particularly among male drivers aged 25 to 44. Around 4,116 crimes and almost 44,000 administrative offenses were identified in 2024, like that  Law and politics shows.

The dangers associated with driving under the influence of drugs cannot be underestimated. Even the smallest amount of cannabis in the blood can lead to irresponsible driving behavior as concentration and reaction time are significantly impaired. That's why the penalties for drug drivers are severe: in addition to fines, there is also the risk of driving license being revoked and the need for a medical-psychological examination (MPU) after a drug-related incident.

The perpetrators go unnoticed

In addition to the drug incidents, there were also numerous pickpocketings in supermarkets in Friesack, where several victims were robbed while shopping. The perpetrators sneaked into the customers' pockets or bags around 12:15 p.m. and were able to escape undetected. This shows that safety precautions in social institutions should continue to have a high priority.

And the damage to vehicles in Brandenburg an der Havel, where unknown persons scratched two cars, is another example of the increasing disruption in public spaces. We urgently appeal to civil society to be vigilant and to actively participate in reducing such incidents.

The incidents of the last few days make it clear that the issues of drugs on the road and general safety precautions are more in focus than ever. The authorities are still required to ensure public safety and educate the population about the dangers.
