Brandenburg Women's Meeting: New space for exchange and empowerment!
The new offer for women in Brandenburg an der Havel is taking shape: The women's meeting, which was launched on August 4th, 2025, is responding to the increasing demand and will take place regularly from October 6th, 2025 in the new venue in the DRK House, Grüne Aue 6. Initiated by Jeannette Horn, the city's equal opportunities officer, and Doreen Charlet, managing director of the Democratic Women's Association Landesverband Brandenburg e.V., the meeting promises an open space for exchange and networking.
The offers, which were initially very popular, are in tune with the times. The original rooms in the girls' club at the Fouqué Library were simply no longer sufficient. Thanks to the support of Andreas Griebel, Managing Director of the German Red Cross, a barrier-free space that can be easily reached by public transport has now been found. The meetings are scheduled for the first Monday of the month from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Registration is not required.
A space for women: exchange and community
The goal of the women's meeting is clear: women should have the opportunity to exchange their experiences and discuss common topics in an open atmosphere. This is particularly important at a time when gender equality in all areas of life is still an ongoing endeavor. Regular events, such as International Women's Day in Berlin, which is now legally anchored, or Equal Pay Day, repeatedly bring the challenges of gender equality into public awareness.
The initiative is not alone. In Brandenburg an der Havel there is also the Girls*kram, an open offer for girls aged 8 and over and young women up to 22 years old, which takes place in the Fouqué library. Topics such as gender stereotypes and girls' rights can be discussed here. The girls actively participate in the activities and benefit from a variety of leisure activities that promote self-confidence and independence.
The future of equality
At a time when equality is more important than ever, projects like the women's meeting and the girls' stuff are of central importance. The society-wide political orientation focuses on equality and promotes an inclusive and intersectional approach to combating discrimination. Such initiatives not only take a step in the right direction, but also create a lasting culture of cooperation and support.
With the new women's meeting place, women and girls in Brandenburg an der Havel have the chance to actively work on strengthening themselves and become part of a growing community. This brings a breath of fresh air into the city and shows that there is still a lot to do for an equal future.
