Gollwitz celebrates 650 years with a big anniversary party in the castle park!

On Saturday, July 19, 2025, a very special festival is celebrated in the picturesque Schlosspark Gollwitz: the 650th anniversary of the small but historic district of Brandenburg an der Havel. The roots of Gollwitz ’go back to 1375 when it was first mentioned in the Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg. This document, launched by Emperor Charles IV. reported.

In the centuries, Gollwitz has mastered some challenges: looting, fires and changes in the ownership structure belong to the eventful past of the village. The Feldsteinkirche, which was probably built in the 15th century and is still considered a landmark of the place, is particularly noteworthy. Of the 232 inhabitants in 1775, the population grew to 470 until 1928, which reflects the development and attractiveness of the village.

The festivities start at 2:00 p.m. with a festival service, under the direction of Pastor Jens Meiburg. A colorful program is offered for visitors that have something ready for everyone: from coffee and cake to musical performances to children's activities. As part of the celebrations, historical local tours are planned by the committed market female Christine. And there will be a “competition street against street” for the sporty natures - a competition that certainly provides many laughs and exciting moments.

The highlight of the celebrations will be a dance with an impressive fire show that will take place from 8:00 p.m. It is even invited to appear in historical robes in order to bring the festive flair of the past centuries to life. Mayor Steffen Scheller already had his congratulations aligned, but will unfortunately not be able to take part in the festive day, such as Stadt Brandenburg.

The history of Gollwitz ’is closely interwoven with the development of the Schloss Gollwitz meeting place, which celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2019. This facility has developed into an important location for education and cultural -historical exchange. With the support of funding institutions such as the German Foundation Monument Protection, projects are constantly being realized here, which preserve the cultural heritage, as documented on Denkmalschutz.de. In 2025, in which numerous places in the region celebrate their 650th anniversary, Gollwitz still has a special position, as it is a part of a much greater story that goes back to the rule of Emperor Charles IV.

The celebration will not only be an occasion for joy and celebration, but also an opportunity to appreciate the roots together and to reflect on the developments of the past 650 years. Gollwitz is a lively part of regional history, and his celebrations promise a colorful festival for all generations.
