Kaufland opens a new store in the Beetzsee Center: freshness and variety!
A fresh wind is now blowing through the Beetzsee Center in Brandenburg an der Havel! On July 8, 2025, Kaufland opened its newest branch, bringing not only new shopping opportunities but also fresh momentum to the region. With a sales area of around 5,600 square meters and over 30,000 items in the range, the new market is a true shopping paradise. From branded items to own brands to regional products – there really is something for everyone here. Particularly noteworthy is the extensive selection of over 250 regional products, which come from up to 30 kilometers from the surrounding area.
Patrick Fischer, the store manager with 20 years of experience in the group of companies, is very satisfied with the progress so far after just three weeks. “We are ideally located so customers can find everything in one place,” he explains. The large fresh food counter with a length of around 16 meters, which offers numerous types of meat and sausages as well as cheese and antipasti, is very popular. Fish, fruit, vegetables and dairy products round out the offering, while the in-house bakery offers over 90 freshly baked items every day.
The new Kaufland and the region
Thanks to the return of Kaufland as an anchor tenant and the investment of 11 million euros in the renovation of the former Real store, the number of visitors to the Beetzsee Center has increased noticeably. The vacancy has almost been completely eliminated, only a few spaces are still unlet and discussions about leasing are already underway. The center itself played an important role in the region's retail sector when it opened in 1993, and the revival by Kaufland is significantly strengthening the local economy.
The return of Kaufland after Real's closure in March 2024 led to a 50% drop in visitor numbers at the time. But now other shops in the center are enjoying new customer traffic. A MAZ survey of ten visitors shows that most of them are satisfied with the new market offer, but express a wish for shorter routes in the market and a better structured structure.
State-of-the-art technology and service
Special attention was also paid to modern technology. With closed refrigeration cabinets, modern LED lighting and an energy-saving heat pump, the market is well prepared for the future. Customers also benefit from a customer guidance system that makes orientation easier. Innovative solutions such as self-service checkouts (self-service checkouts) can also be found in the checkout, which save time, especially for smaller purchases. The option of mobile shopping with the K-Scan hand scanner and digital payment via QR codes at the self-service checkouts offer additional convenience.
Overall, with its opening strategy, Kaufland not only shows that the company is striving to gain a foothold in the region, but also that responsible cooperation with a focus on sustainability and regional connections is paramount. This philosophy also permeates the next planned new openings in Germany, with Kaufland targeting numerous additional branches by the end of February 2026.
The future at the Beetzsee Center is secured! You have the opportunity to visit the new Kaufland and see for yourself the wide range and fresh products. Who knows, maybe you'll experience some of the opening specials and tastings planned the next time you shop. Information about this and the latest developments can also be found on the Kaufland press website.
