Brandenburg country party: 100,000 visitors expect regional delicacies!

On June 13, 2025, people in Brandenburg will flock together to take part in the 30th Brandenburg Country Party. This special event, at the Gut Schmerwitz organic farm in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district, aims to put local agriculture and regional products in the spotlight. Around 130 hosts are taking part and inviting the population to get to know the variety and quality of their products. Organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, the number of visitors is expected to reach up to 100,000, an increase compared to around 75,000 last year.

Farms in the region are known for their products such as asparagus, cucumbers, sea buckthorn, sunflowers and sweet lupins, a protein-rich legume that is becoming increasingly popular. The Minister of Agriculture, Hanka Mittelstädt, and State Farmers President Henrik Wendorff were present at the ceremonial opening to underline the importance of regional products and to arouse the interest of visitors. This event is not only an opportunity to feast but also an important platform to educate about farming practices and the challenges farmers face.

Food prices and producer prices under pressure

However, farmers are not only basking in the glamor of celebrations but are also struggling with economic adversities. A look at producer prices shows that they were reduced by 3.3 percent in 2020, while consumer prices for food rose by 2.3 percent. Potato farms even experienced a decline of over 40 percent, which is a real challenge for many. In contrast, strawberry growers were able to increase their prices by 39 percent, showing that not all farms are affected equally. Price fluctuations are a constant companion in farmers' everyday lives and make it difficult for them to run a stable business.

The rural area in Brandenburg offers the ideal setting to establish direct connections between consumers and producers. It is important that visitors develop an eye for the qualities of regional products and thus contribute to supporting regional agriculture. A good knack for selecting high-quality food is required!

Don't miss this taste of the region and enjoy the diversity of the Brandenburg countryside!
