35 years of Johanniter: Departure with a new center of Akkon in Cottbus!
A great event for the Dahme-Spreewald region: On Monday, the new Johanniter Center "Akkon Cottbus" was officially opened and the 35th birthday of the Johanniter Südbrandenburg was celebrated at the same time. Around 200 guests came to attend this special occasion. The district of Dahme-Spreewald did not miss the opportunity to congratulate the Johannitern personally and to appreciate the long-term cooperation in the area of emergency services and disaster protection, such as Niederlausitz-aktuell.de reported.
The name "Akkon" is reminiscent of the origins of the Order of St. John, which was headquartered in 1191 in the city of Akkon. What once started with only 35 members has become a strong association. Today, over 750 full -time and around 320 volunteers belong to the community. The board, consisting of Matthias Rudolf, Andreas Berger-Winkler and Silvia Enders, received a warmest congratulations on the successful further development from the head of the State.
The new center in detail
The new “Akkon Cottbus” center not only serves as an operations center of the Johanniter in population protection, but also plays a crucial role in disaster protection. The modern facility offers space for the central accommodation of all emergency vehicles and optimizes the training and further training of volunteers in excellently equipped rooms. This facilitates the important voluntary work that is indispensable for society, as the Johanniter emphasize.
In cases of large damage, such as floods or technical disorders, the building can even be used as an emergency center for those affected. This shows how important the infrastructure is for the region and its security. The new center will therefore not only be a place of training, but also a retreat in times of crisis.
Strengthen volunteering
The importance of volunteering in population protection cannot be assessed highly enough. According to the Federal Office for Population Protection and Catastrophic Aid, the voluntary work is urgently sought in the future for structural solutions. The voluntary commitment in Germany not only does valuable work, but is also a central component of civil and disaster protection. The need for well -trained volunteers is unbroken and will be further strengthened by initiatives such as those in the new center "Akkon Cottbus".
This celebration was not only a tribute to the past 35 years, but also a clear step into a future -oriented orientation of the population protection in Südbrandenburg. Anyone who feels connected to the Johannitern and their work has the opportunity to show a good knack and actively help themselves - because volunteers are always needed. The district and the Johanniter are looking forward to the upcoming challenges and the opportunity to continue working together in the future.
