Cottbus storms into the quarter-finals: 5-0 win against Strausberg!

On October 11, 2025, there was once again excitement in the Brandenburg State Football Cup. FC Energie Cottbus and SV Babelsberg 03 were in impressive form in the round of 16 and deservedly made it to the quarter-finals.

In the Strausberg stadium, Cottbus left no room for doubt right from the start and defeated FC Strausberg, a representative of the eight division, 5-0 (4-0). Finn Heidrich shone with two early goals in the 13th and 28th minutes, while Janis Juckel in the 24th minute and Can Moustfa with his first goal of the season in the 42nd minute increased the score to 4-0 at halftime. An unfortunate own goal from Roger Sobotta during a clearance attempt in the 81st minute rounded off the clear result. Despite resting several regular players, Cottbus were superior from the start - a real show for the team that failed in the league last week.

Babelsberg with a strong appearance

SV Babelsberg 03 also made short work of it in the round of 16. The game against Union Klosterfelde ended 4-0. Niklas Kastenhofer (2nd minute) and Samir Werbelow (7th minute) divinely gave Babelsberg an early lead. Jannis Lang and George Didoss added further goals in the second half. The victory came at just the right time for Babelsberg after three league games without a win and gives the players new self-confidence.

There were also some surprises in other encounters. Oranienburger FC (Brandenburg League) caused a sensation by defeating FSV Luckenwalde (Regional League) 3-1. This defeat came as a surprise to Luckenwalde after Tim Maciejewski had equalized in the meantime. Kwasi Boateng and Abdul-Hamid Saadev ultimately set the course for Oranienburg.
