Cottbus' Waltz Night 2025: Dancing, celebrating and enjoying in the Altmarkt!
A special event is coming to Cottbus: Waltz Night 2025 will transform the city into a dancing paradise on July 5th and 6th. On the Altmarkt, which is transformed into the largest dance floor in the region, the summer weather allows for partying until late into the night. The event promises an unforgettable evening with waltz melodies, donated by the Philharmonic Orchestra, and inviting participation activities.
The celebrations begin on Saturday, July 5th, at 2 p.m. with an open waltz rehearsal, where everyone interested has the opportunity to brush up on their dancing skills. From 6.30 p.m. there will be a free dance course led by the Fritsche Dance School. The philharmonic orchestra will fill the Altmarkt with wonderful sounds in three-quarter time from 9 p.m. Soloists such as Anne Martha Schuitemaker and Rahel Brede will also demonstrate their skills on this occasion. Participants are asked to dress in stylish white – a real eye-catcher in the summer atmosphere!
Sunday: A day full of music and community
On Sunday, July 6th, visitors can look forward to the “Our Stage Cottbus” event from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., which opens with an ecumenical open-air service at 10 a.m. In the hours that follow, everyone can look forward to a colorful supporting program characterized by music and various hands-on activities by local groups. Admission to both days of Waltz Night is free, which is an opportunity for many to enjoy the extraordinary atmosphere with friends and family.
Enjoyment and hospitality
The dining establishments around the Altmarkt have prepared well for the celebrations. Many already offer seat reservations, including Brau & Bistro Mylix, Sakana, Taparia am Altmarkt, and many others. Here, revelers can fortify themselves with refreshing drinks and delicious snacks before dancing again. The event is also barrier-free, making it easier for all visitors to participate.
As in the previous year, the Waltz Night 2025 will take place under the patronage of Mayor Tobias Schick, which once again underlines the importance of the event for the local community. It remains to be hoped that summer will bring nice weather just in time for Waltz Night and that visitors will take the opportunity to celebrate together and enjoy being together.
