Energie Cottbus is starting its training camp in Austria after 10 years!

On July 17, 2025 the time has finally come: FC Energie Cottbus is traveling to a summer training camp again after more than ten years. From July 17th to 23rd the team will be in Hagenberg im Mühlkreis, Austria. This trip should not only increase anticipation for the third division, but also provide inspiration for the upcoming season. Head coach Claus-Dieter Wollitz is already satisfied with the conditions on site, which offer optimal conditions for intensive training, as RadioCottbus reports.

In order to create the necessary competitive pressure on site, two test matches are being planned. The first opponent, SV Oberbank Ried from the Austrian first division, is expected on Friday, July 18th at 6 p.m. in the Innviertel Arena. The following day there will be an encounter with FC HOGO Hertha Wels, who plays in the second division, also at 6 p.m., this time in the HUBER Arena. The test games are intended to help the team prepare for the new season and make final adjustments. “We want to challenge ourselves and prepare the team for the challenges ahead,” the coach continued, as quoted by TAG24.

The journey and the team

Despite good preparations, there were some difficulties upon arrival. The team was originally scheduled to arrive at the hotel at 6 p.m. However, due to the bus driver's driving times and an extended route via Nuremberg and Regensburg, the team only arrived at 9 p.m. The journey, which was also supposed to go through the Czech Republic, took at least five hours. The staff was already there and ready, while the players were the last to arrive after an arduous journey.

The team has a total of 24 players, only Lukas Michelbrink has to miss the game due to injury. The newly signed goalkeeper Max Böhnke from Aubstadt complements the goalkeeper trio. Particularly exciting: Tolcay Cigerci is also in the training camp, despite rumors of a move to Alemannia Aachen. This constellation promises a lot for the future season, as SoccTours emphasizes, which recommends such training camps with test games for optimal preparation for teams.

The expectations for this training camp are high. Energie Cottbus wants to provide new impetus not only in terms of sport but also in terms of structure. Intensive training and the two test matches are on the program in the next few days - a good framework to prepare for the anniversary season 2025/26.
