Energie Cottbus waives the bonus: amateur clubs benefit!
A real bang comes from the world of Brandenburg football: FC Energie Cottbus surprisingly forewent the prize money from the last state cup season. This was recorded in a message from the Brandenburg Football Association (FLB), which was addressed to the clubs that have reached at least the round of 16. Instead of profiting for itself, Cottbus ensures that the 7,945.73 euros are distributed in solidarity among other cup participants. This means that amateur clubs in particular, who often fight for any financial support, have a little more reason to be happy.
The backgrounds are also interesting. The DFB has set a bonus of 211,886 euros per club for participation in the first main round of the 2025/2026 cup competition. The Brandenburg cup winner, RSV Eintracht Stahnsdorf, can also look forward to such a bonus, but has to give 25% of it - that's 52,971.50 euros - to the FLB. So it shows that solidarity in the league is not just words, but also follows actions.
Financial distribution among the participants
But how exactly is the money distributed? Here is an overview of the bonuses for the most successful teams:
- Finalist: VfB 1921 Krieschow – 16.459,00 Euro
- Halbfinalist: FSV 63 Luckenwalde – 8.513,28 Euro
- Viertelfinalisten: FSV Optik Rathenow, SG Einheit Zepernick, SV Eintracht Alt Ruppin, SV Falkensee-Finkenkrug – jeweils 3.216,13 Euro
- Achtelfinalisten: 1. FC Frankfurt/Oder, FC Lauchhammer, FSV Babelsberg 74, FSV Union Fürstenwalde, MSV 1919 Neuruppin, Oranienburger FC Eintracht 1901, SG Union Klosterfelde, SV Schwarz-Rot Neustadt – jeweils 1.891,84 Euro
The draw for the new state cup season is also just around the corner. The pairings will be on the table on July 17, 2025 at 2 p.m. and the anticipation is already palpable. The new state cup season will start on August 9, 2025, with 110 teams taking on the challenges. Who knows, maybe there will be the next big football star among them?
