Discover the Cottbus sewage treatment plant: open day on August 30th!

An exciting event for the whole family is just around the corner! On Saturday, August 30, 2025, LWG Lausitzer Wasser GmbH & Co. KG invites you to an open day at the Cottbus sewage treatment plant, Am Großen Spreewehr 6, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free and the motto of the day is: “With us… just know more!”

The sewage treatment plant offers a varied program for young and old. Particular highlights are the guided tours, which provide a deep insight into wastewater treatment. Visitors have the opportunity to climb the 35 meter high Faulturm and from there enjoy a fantastic view over Cottbus. Did you know that such facilities are not only important for the environment, but also for ensuring the supply of drinking water? This is also explained by the Federal Center for Water Disposal.

Interactive experiences for the whole family

There will be an exciting supporting program for the children: on the grounds there will be a bouncy castle, a climbing tower, a craft street and football darts with players from SV Wacker 09. Anyone interested in technology can look forward to exciting interactive tours and a wastewater treatment plant quiz where there are small prizes to be won.

The culinary offer comes from the Lebenshilfe workshops, which will provide delicious food, as well as from Eis Greschke - perfect for a little hunger in between! Another highlight is the musical program: from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. the duo “Leise Tones” will ensure a good atmosphere.

Participatory activities and training opportunities

Visitors also have the opportunity to learn about numerous technologies related to wastewater management. The training workshop makes it possible to make your own workpieces, experience a 3D printer demonstration and even try out virtual reality (VR), which makes it easier to gain an insight into various apprenticeships. Trainees and trainers will actively address questions relating to vocational training.

Last but not least, the German Federation for the Environment and Nature Conservation (BUND) will be represented with an information stand and will provide exciting tidbits of knowledge on environmental topics. The company AQS Aqua Service will also provide information about water and environmental analysis. This makes the day not only informative, but also interactive and entertaining for everyone.

Mark your calendar for August 30th! The open day at the sewage treatment plant in Cottbus is an excellent opportunity to find out more about the important work in wastewater management and at the same time spend an eventful day with the family.
