Journey of discovery to Cottbus: enjoyment, culture and nature for hikers!

A truly unforgettable excursion for 51 members of the Bechtsrieth/Trebsau fruit and horticultural association! This trip took the participants to the charming city of Cottbus, where they could not only enjoy the culture, but also the picturesque nature and culinary delicacies. Upper Palatinate echo reports that the trip was organized by Alfred Wulfang and offered real highlights. The participants were welcomed by local tour guides and experienced an exciting tour of the city.

Cottbus invites its visitors to stroll through the historic old town. There is a lot to discover here, from medieval gates to majestic towers to baroque city villas. In particular, the Cottbus mail coach, known for his error-free delivery of the saying “The Cottbus mail coach cleans the Cottbus mail coach,” provides amusing moments. For some participants, the visit to the famous Cottbus State Theater, which is considered the most beautiful Art Nouveau theater in Europe, was another highlight of the city tour. Spreewald.de highlights that architectural tours of the old town are offered almost every Sunday, allowing you to delve even deeper into the history.

Natural beauty and culinary delights

On the second day, a boat trip in the famous Spreewald was on the agenda. The participants enjoyed a culinary snack during the journey and were enchanted by the idyllic nature. This was followed by an exploration of the Lusatian lake landscape on the third day. A visit to the former Welzow-Süd coal mine and the picturesque Dutch windmill in Straupitz were on the agenda. The day ended with a relaxing boat trip on Lake Senftenberg, which further brightened the mood.

Another highlight of the trip was the visit to the Fürst Pückler Park, which amazed visitors with its impressive park landscape. ADAC Maps informed that the park covers an area of around 96 hectares, created by Hermann Fürst von Pückler-Muskau. It impresses with artificial waterfalls, ponds and unique pyramids, which house the final resting place of the prince and his wife Lucie.

The end of the tour was also successful: the return trip via the Fattigsmühle near Töpfen, peppered with a hearty snack, brought the participants back in a cheerful mood. Alfred Wulfang received a lot of praise for organizing the trip, and everyone returned home with positive impressions and a good mood. A big thank you to the organizer and the fellow travelers who made this club trip a complete success!
