FC Energie Cottbus starts training with a test match sensation!
On Sunday afternoon, FC Energie Cottbus opened its preparation for the coming season in the 3rd league with its first public training session. In midsummer temperatures, around 200 spectators flocked to Parcell Street to watch the kick-off. Head coach Claus-Dieter Wollitz gave the starting signal for an intensive training phase in which medical examinations and performance-specific tests were carried out the previous week. The training consisted of passing exercises, formation games and a free training game.
Particularly exciting was the presence of several newcomers - Jannis Boziaris, Nyameyke Awortwie-Grant, Lukas Michelbrink, Theo Ogbidi, Can Moustfa and Ted Tattermusch - as well as Moritz Hannemann, who had to complete an individual running program due to an injury. The team's own offspring were also able to present themselves: Finn Heidrich was there as a licensed player for the first time, and U19 player Joel Awuah also took part in the session. Three external test players provided additional excitement: Leon Guwara (FC Ingolstadt), Justin Butler (SV Sandhausen) and Max Böhnke (TSV Aubstadt).
Heading into the season
The preparation for the season has already brought with it some interesting new developments for FC Energie Cottbus. There are also fresh ideas in the functional team: Tim Schneider has been hired as an athletic trainer, while Julien Thies is responsible for game and video analysis. Thomas Miller will also take on the newly created position of transition coordinator in top talent management, supported by Jonas Hildebrandt. These restructurings are part of the goal of specifically promoting the development of young players and improving their integration into the professional team.
But it's not just training that's all about preparation. Seven more training sessions are scheduled until Friday, followed by the first test matches. The matches promise to provide exciting insights into the team's performance:

Test games as practical training units
Test matches are of great importance for the team. They not only offer the opportunity to check the current level of performance, but are also applied training units that help players gain match practice and deepen the content of the training. The focus on results is rather secondary; it is more about setting priorities in terms of content and further developing the team. The opponent is selected depending on the training goals, which means that both defensive and offensive focuses can be worked on. A test match must be well organized in advance in order to gain insights and valuable knowledge for upcoming tasks in the league, as fussball.de describes.
As a foretaste of the coming season, the FC Energie Cottbus players are ready and motivated to take on the challenges that lie ahead of them. An exciting time for the team and their fans lies ahead!
