BER starts non-stop flights to Toronto – a dream comes true!

Good news for travelers from the Berlin metropolitan region: As of today, BER Airport has a new long-haul connection to Toronto, Canada's largest city. Canadian airline Air Transat now offers non-stop flights to Toronto twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays. The first flight landed at its destination in the morning - an Airbus A321 LR, known for its fuel efficiency for long distances, brought the passengers safely to their destination. Loud maz-online.de Airport manager Aletta von Massenbach described this connection as a significant milestone for the BER location.

Toronto is an excellent destination for many travelers to North America, especially since there are attractive codeshare connections to other cities such as Montreal, Vancouver and Las Vegas via Toronto Pearson Airport. Air Transat, which is in the flight statistics according to torontoairport.net which is also used by numerous passengers, has achieved a reliable on-time performance of 74% in recent months when it comes to the punctuality of flights. Out of 1,051 flights in the period from mid-March to mid-June 2025, there was not a single canceled flight - a truly excellent result!

Growing Opportunities in Toronto

What awaits travelers in Toronto? Pearson Airport is home to 118 airlines and offers over 30,000 flights per month to 63 countries. The huge range of travel destinations makes it easy to explore the Canadian metropolis or travel further. From this hub, passengers can set off to many popular holiday destinations, be it to cities such as Paris, London or the Caribbean.

Given the economic challenges facing long-haul connections at BER, the introduction of direct flights to Toronto is a positive step. Until now, BER only offered two other intercontinental destinations: Beijing and New York. There are also connections to important hubs in the Arab Gulf states. The previous long-haul connections, such as those to Singapore, have now been discontinued.

A look at the statistics

Statistical data from April 2025 shows that Toronto Pearson Airport is extremely active. There were 30,868 flights handled this month and passenger traffic was on the mend after sharp declines during the pandemic. Even though the numbers from 2020, with only 13.3 million passengers, fell well short of the record years, current developments give hope for continued growth.

Passengers can look forward to an exciting time full of travel options. Whether for business trips, vacations or simply a city break - Toronto is now easier than ever to get to! Further information about Air Transat flights and services can be found on the official website torontoairport.com.
